All yarns fall into one or more of the categories listed below.
1. Minimal dye
While categorised as non-toxic, ACID DYE can cause harmful effects to the environment.
Rather than dye 100% of the fibre, yarns in this category have 70% less coverage.
2. Overdyed deadstock
Deadstock yarns are surplus waste from manufacturing past seasons and don’t offer designers the same level of colour choice.
Overdying deadstock yarns gives full coverage, adds new interest to the yarns and helps them to tie in with a new collection.
3. Natural dye
Dyed using plant and natural sources.
This can include uk-grown plants, invasive plants (UK) or sources from outside the UK.
4. Multicolour
Multicoloured yarns for fuller coverage.
Bespoke colourways can be requested.
5. UK-sourced fibre
Fibre is sourced from UK farms, and processed in the UK.
6. UK-sourced dye
UK harvested dye.
Some dyes are harvested and used immediately, others are harvested in season and stored frozen until the time comes to use their colour!
