All yarns fall into one or more of the categories listed below.
1. Natural dye
Dyed using plant and natural sources.
This can include uk-grown plants, invasive plants (UK) or sources from outside the UK.
2. British Dye
UK harvested dye.
Some dyes are foraged or harvested and used immediately, others are harvested in season and stored frozen until the time comes to use their colour!
3. British Yarn
Fibre is sourced from UK farms, and processed in the UK.
4. Vegan-friendly
No animal products are used in the dyeing process.
2. Deadstock Yarn
Utilising surplus waste, deadstock yarns don’t offer designers the same range of colour choice.
Overdyeing offers new possibilities, while leaving segments undyed can offer ways to still harness synthetic colours.
4. Minimal Acid Dye
When necessary, minimal use of acid dyes is applied.
ACID DYE can cause harmful effects to the environment.
Rather than dye 100% of the fibre, yarns in this category have 70% less coverage.
